Pretzel Bites

This recipe is not a recipe that I had growing up.  This is actually a recipe I found on another blogger’s website before this past Superbowl.  I found it on Budget Savvy Diva’s website and decided to give it a try with my homemade pizza dough recipe instead.  Her recipe calls for store bought pizza dough.  So it is really a choice for each individual on which dough you would like to use.

1 Homemade Pizza Dough

1 Egg

4 Cups Warm Water

1 1/3 Cups Baking Soda

Rock Salt ( for sprinkling on pretzels)

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2.dissolve the baking soda in the warm water.

3.Whisk the egg to make an egg wash to coat the pieces so the salt sticks to them

4.Cut the dough and make bite-size pieces.

5.Dip the pieces in the baking soda solution.

6.Place the pieces on a non stick sprayed sheet pan.

7.Brush each piece with the egg wash.

8.Sprinkle the rock salt on each piece.

9.You will bake these at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Tips and Tricks:

-The egg wash allows the pretzel bites to get a good color.

– You do not need to soak them for a long period of time.

I just toss them in and make sure they are fully coated.    Once all of the pieces are on the pan    You can add as much or as little salt you want.

These have been dipped in the baking soda bath, brushed with the egg was and sprinkled with salt.

There are some missing because they are just too good not to eat warm!

With these I like to use a dipping sauce.  I like this easy honey mustard sauce that also doubles as a nice sauce for a sandwich.  I am also lactose intolerant so I stick to the honey mustard sauce.  You can however make this cheese sauce that is quick and delicious!

Hope you enjoy!
